Talizea yos'Phelium Clan Korval, called "Lizzie"

Her Birth[]

A daughter, born in late spring, SY 1393, on Surebleak at Jelaza Kazone with her father and The Tree also in attendance [1]

“The weather is remarkably mild for the season, which is, in case you had wondered, spring [2]

She is the clan’s nadelm (heir to the delm)

Daughter of Val Con yos'Phelium and Miri Robertson

She opened her eyes to his face, brilliant with wonder, damp with tears. He was cradling something in his arms. Carefully, he bent and showed her—an impossibly tiny, scrunched face beneath a shock of fuzzy red hair. “Cha’trez,” Val Con said, and his voice was shaky with pride and love. “Behold our daughter.”[3]

Her Name[]

Her name is a compromise. Miri wished for "Lizzie" in order to honor her foster-mother Angela "Liz" Lizardi. Val Con suggested "Talizea" which was inarguably Liaden, an old name, belonging, one might say, to no one, which might, in the Terran way, be shortened to "Lizzie" and thus both cultures were served.[4]

Descriptions[]

Bright copper hair[4], moss green eyes.[5]

Before she was born, while still in the womb, her aunt Theo Waitley saw that she would be a pilot.[6]

She spends much time in the rumpus room at Jelaza Kazone. Likes to look at books. Loves the cats and Jeeves — is delighted with his flashing headball, and is somewhat spoiled by Nelirikk.

Development- Book by Book[]

  • The Rifle's First Wife — “standing, bouncing experimentally on bowed legs, intent and wonder warring on her face as excited but nearly inaudible whuffs escaped her smile.” (Text indicates it’s spring — it must be the clan’s second spring on Surebleak, as they arrived just before spring, in late winter, and Lizzie was born in late spring.
  • Dragon in Exile - summer. “Mother and child were on the floor: the child crawling in energetic circles” . . .Rys "extended only his natural forefinger and Lizzie wrapped all of her fingers around it. “You are strong,” he said, waggling the finger a little. “Be careful not to break me.” She laughed, and squeezed harder." Lizzie is loved by all at summer parade and picnic after Shooting Competition
